Finds from Saturday's Hunt....I think I Hit the Roses Motherload....
Saturday was a beautiful day for hunting treasures......here's all that I found.....
An old roses trivet...I absolutely adore the colors of this.....I added this to my green wicker basket of treasures, that sits on my living room sidetable .....I may put it in the kitchen, seeing how it does match my biscuit jar that I use for a utensil holder. There's not much room in the kitchen for anything else though, unless I replace something else..... Oh I'm sure, knowing me..... I'll be moving it around all over the place for a while.....until I figure it out. All I do know is that I love this, and I will find the perfect spot for it!
A tiny roses saucer, made in Germany.....I put this in my tiny wall curio that's in the kitchen....
A roses ashtray, (I don't even smoke, but still couldn't pass up this made in Occupied Japan piece).....
Rachelle Ashwell~ Simply Shabby Chic~ Blush Beauty Bouquet Queen Duvet Set, (opened, but still in the package, and never used for $5.00, and a table cloth thrown in for an extra buck! I thought I was dreaming, when I came across this.....I had to get darling husband to pinch me, when we got to the car just to make sure I wasn't!
Old World Santa.....
He's going to top my bedroom Christmas Tree this year.......

Old perfume bottle....
Made in England, Lownds Pateman Ltd. Torquay....I have never heard of it before, but I'm likin' it enough to add to my collection!
Old green tin.....
A darling hubby find...... cobalt blue goblets, (he is the glass collector, so these went immediately into the curio cabinet). I am glad he found these.
A pretty Johnsons Bros. Sugar Dish, made in England....
A big, heavy, very ornate and detailed silver tray....I couldn't pass this beauty up....even if it's engraved with someone elses name! Not to worry.....I'll either make me a chalkboard sign with this tray...... for the kitchen, (I've seen it done in magazines, and also by so many talented ladies in blogland..... and they turn out gorgeous), or I may paint the whole thing creamy white.....I haven't made up my mind about that yet. Right now it's under my thanksgiving center piece which I forgot to get a picture of....(I'll show that sometime next week). Can you believe Thanksgiving is literally right around the corner?!
Some vintage paper doilies.....I just love these....the patterns are assorted and are so unusual......I definately have some ideas for these.....
And last but not least, I found these wonderful cookbooks.....I have found myself completely lost in these over the weekend! I can hardly wait to cook some things from these cookbooks....Paula Deen has always been one of my favorite cooks, so I was overjoyed to find this particular cookbook, and the Taste of Home is a wonderful one too..... these were only a buck each. Well, that's my finds from the weekend. Hope you had fun seeing what I came home with! What did you find this weekend?
Before I forget..... Tropical Storm Ida is heading in our direction, (we are 30 miles inland, so I feel like all will be okay), but If you are a praying person.... please keep everyone in it's path in your prayers. It is appreciated more than you know. I hope everyone has a great week....thanks for stopping over!

A New Passion... and it involves roses of course
I love learning something new, and I've found that making these cute little pink roses is now my newest passion! My passions are fleeting at times and even change frequently, but these are so much fun to make, that I think I will enjoy this new passion for a long time to come!
These are the first I have made so far, I guess they aren't too bad for a first try here. Just imagine all of the fun little projects that I can use these for....I think the possiblities are literally endless!
Here they are before I painted them.....
and this is the clay I used. .99 cents a package. This is "Bake Shop" brand Oven-Bake Clay. I found it very easy to work with. If you are interested in learning to make these.....google how to make clay roses....there are many tutorial links available. Who would have ever thought I would love working with clay so much. I honestly didn't think that I would be able to make these. Life is just full of wonderful surprises isn't it!? I'm really glad I tried my hand at these. I want to try my hand at making fake desserts and cupcakes soon. That's the next thing on my learning list. I think these roses will look so pretty as cupcake toppers!
Now, isn't this cute aqua ribbon rose perfect here in my little avon vanity chair? This is one of my favorite avon pieces. While I was on my rose making adventure, (I often get side tracked when I am learning) I also learned to make ribbon roses. I made this ribbon rose with an attachment that is on my E-Z bow maker, it's called E-Z Rose, made by Offray. I purchased this handy gadget years ago, on HSN and I have used it often to make large wreath bows. I had never even used the E-Z Rose attachment for ribbon roses, and really completely forgot I even had it......... because I could always find ribbon roses easily and they were so inexpensive to buy. Well, I have found that ribbon roses are getting harder to find, in my area.....so this E-Z rose maker is going to come in handy. I'm glad I pulled it out of the storage room.
Now for some finds that I found over the weekend. This weekend, I managed to get out of town for the day.....and I went to my favorite thrift store.......I found some Christmas treasures......this little book was only .50 and I loved the cover of it, but there is also some great ideas inside too.....
I couldn't pass up on this Old Victorian Boot Christmas Ornament.....isn't it adorable.....
or these handmade red gingham Christmas Balls. Can you just imagine these with some red toile hearts on a tree? I don't know if I'll keep these beautiful balls, or sell these. I'm still thinking very hard about that, LOL!
After the trip to the thrift store, I couldn't pass by "Ross " without stopping. There is always something in there that calls my name. Like this roses apron.....I needed a new apron, (yes, I really wear an apron, and mine had seen better days, so for $5.49, I ran with it! LOL!) Paying for it first, of course. Ross has a great selection of aprons. There probably won't be after this post gets published, but when I was there, there were so many different colors and patterns.
I love this roses pattern, and it has a ruffled pocket, and a cute ruffled edge on bottom of the apron.....
I hung it beside the refridge.....(I couldn't have this cute apron stuck off in a drawer, now could I?) Hung here, against the pale green walls, it adds a punch of color and added charm in kitchen ....it protects my clothes while cooking too. I sure can't beat that. I guess I really am a Betty Crocker wanna be.
I also found these blue and white toile placemats....I love them! Can you imagine my excitement when I found these! I have to admit that I have a thing for collecting placemats these days. It used to be throw pillows, and now I've moved on to placemats, probably because my closets won't hold anymore throw pillows. These are much easier to store and I love a quick change on my table from time to time, so placemats are an inexpensive solution for my that.
These are quilted and look at these pretty designs....french country life toile... will always be my favorite! I don't care what fads come and go, I will always be using toile. It Almost makes me want to paint my kitchen walls yellow! Almost.....
Well, that's what I've been up to in part, over the weekend and last week too. My youngest son had a birthday last week too, he turned 13 years old. It's hard for me to believe. He doesn't look like a 13 year old at all to me. He's just a little guy, but I bet he will get a growing spurt this year. To me, he will always be my baby. No matter how old or big he gets. Well, I hope you have a great week! Thanks for stopping over!Big Hugs,
Queenie
